A VERY LARGE MING DYNASTY GILT BRONZE FIGURE OF BUDDHA YONGLE PERIOD. Dimensions: 22 3/4 x 19 x 14 in. No repair or restoration. In excellent condition. Provenance: The David Collins(1902-1975) Collection, acquired during Mr. Collins' career in the British Consular Service in China and Eastern Tibet between 1920s and 1930s, and thence by descent in the Collins family. A picture of Collins' residence shows the bronze figure in 1940s. During his stay in Tibet and China, Collins built a significant collection of Tibetan and Chinese art.
