A LARGE GILT BRONZE FIGURE OF AVALOKITESHVARA 13TH C. Dimensions: 16 3/4 x 7 3/4 x 6 in. No repair or restoration. In excellent condition. Provenance: The David Collins(1902-1975) Collection, acquired during Mr. Collins' career in the British Consular Service in China and Eastern Tibet between 1920s and 1930s, and thence by descent in the Collins family. A picture of Collins' residence shows part of his collection in 1940s. During his stay in Tibet and China, Collins built a significant collection of Tibetan and Chinese art.
