118: A CELADON GLAZED PLANTER AND STAND YONGZHENG MARK AND PERIOD

A CELADON GLAZED PLANTER AND STAND YONGZHENG MARK AND PERIOD. Dimensions: 5 1/4 x 3 1/2 in.(the planter), 5 3/4 x 1 1/4 in.(the stand). It is in excellent condition with no repairs, chips, or cracks. Provenance: Robert Edwards (1883-1979) and his wife Gloria (1886-1960). Thence by descent. Robert arrived in Shanghai in 1910, to work for Jardine, Matheson & Co. He married Gloria Byrne in 1917 and it was Gloria who took a special interest in acquiring Chinese antiques. The couple stayed in China until 1938/39.
