A VERY LARGE MING DYNASTY HARDSTONE-INLAID GILT BRONZE FIGURE OF BUDDHA
Dimensions: 21 1/4 x 15 x 11 1/4 in. No repair or restoration. In excellent condition. Provenance: The David Collins(1902-1975) Collection, acquired during Mr. Collins' career in the British Consular Service in China and Eastern Tibet between 1920s and 1930s, and thence by descent in the Collins family. A picture of Collins' residence shows the bronze figure in 1960s. During his stay in Tibet and China, Collins built a significant collection of Tibetan and Chinese art.
