A Flambé-Glazed Vase, Yongzheng Mark & Period, Stand & Box. Dimensions: 10½ × 7¼ × 7 in. The vase is in excellent condition with no repair or restoration.
Exhibited at The Art Gallery Exhibition, Asian Art from the Collection of Robert Edwards, in 1965, catalogue no. 87.
Robert Edwards (1883–1979) arrived in Shanghai in 1910 to work for Jardine, Matheson & Co. He married Gloria Byrne (1886–1960) in 1917. Gloria developed a special interest in acquiring Chinese antiques during the couple's years in China. They remained in China until 1938/39.
The piece later passed by descent. Works from the same collection are represented across Lots 19 through 43 in this sale.
